By default, only completing tasks will give users stars, but those with permission can change that. The amount of stars earned for doing different things in the app (completing tasks, adding calendar events, making lists, etc) can be adjusted, and each user can have individual settings for them. For example, to motivate your 10-year-old to keep you informed about soccer practice, you could make adding a calendar event worth 20 stars for him. If 10 stars seems like a lot for to-dos, you could make it worth 2 (or even 0) for the whole family.
Here’s a step-by-step description of how to do it:
- Open the app and select Settings in the navigation menu.
- Select Family, then scroll to the bottom and select Star Gaining. (If you’ve changed the currency symbol, it will say the one you’ve chosen instead, such as Diamond or Heart.)
- Select the icon (by default, it’s yours) and choose which person to change settings for. If you select the family icon, it will change the default amounts for the whole family.
- Here, you’ll see the list of every action that can be rewarded. Change a setting by selecting the number next to it, then putting a new number in the input field and selecting the check mark.
- If you want a person’s setting to match the family’s setting, just type “Default” in the input field.
- The possible star amounts range from 0-1000
