How to Use Goals

In Family Tools, a goal refers to something you want to buy with stars, but can’t afford yet. (You can only set a goal for yourself.) Once a goal is set, the progress bar on your home screen will show how close you are to affording it.

The video illustrates how to set a goal, remove a goal, and redeem a goal. Step-by-step descriptions are below.

How to Set a Goal

  1. Open the app and select the store icon (top right corner of the home screen).
  2. Find a reward that you want to work toward and can’t afford, then select it. A small window will appear, asking if you want to set it as a goal.
    1. If you select something you can afford, it will instead ask you if you want to buy it.
    2. If the store has nothing you want, you can wait until the options change the next Sunday. (If you have permission, you can also restock it yourself.)

When you set a goal, it will remain available at the top of the store for you even when the store’s inventory changes. The amount you need will also appear on your home screen, next to the bar that shows your progress.

How to Remove a Goal

If you have set an item as a goal and don’t want it to be your goal anymore:

  1. Go back to the store and select your goal. (It will be the first item.)
  2. Select Remove Goal at the bottom. This is possible even if you have reached your goal and decide not to buy it.

Redeeming Goals

Once you have reached your goal amount, you can redeem it by going to the store and selecting it. The way it is redeemed depends on the goal type:

  • Family Tools customizations: The item will be added to your collection of backgrounds, color schemes, or icon packs. You can set it right away as you redeem it, or you can go to Settings later to find it and set it.
  • Custom rewards: A parent (or someone else with permission ) created that reward. Once they have fulfilled it (e.g. buying an ice cream cone, taking you to a movie, etc), they can select your icon from the dashboard and check it off.
