Android push notifications can be a little tricky at times as the operating system and app don’t always talk to each other properly. Here are some steps to take to resolve this issue.
Android Notification Fix
In the Family Tools app go to Settings, Profile, Notifications. Turn off all notifications and close the app.
Next, on your Android phone, go to Settings, Notifications, App Settings (this could be slightly different depending on phone and Android version). Once you are in your phone’s app notifications settings area, you’ll want to find Family Tools in the list and disable notifications.
Now open the Family Tools app again and go to Settings, Profile, Notifications, and select Calendar Events. This should trigger Android to ask if you would like to allow notifications for Family Tools. Select allow and notifications should start working.
Another Option
If the above didn’t do the trick here is another fix to try. In the Family Tools app go to Settings, Profile, Notifications. Turn off all notifications, then log out of your profile and close the app.
Now delete the app from your device. Then recycle/restart your device. With your device back on go to the Android Play Store and download the Family Tools app. Log in. Go to Settings, Profile, Notifications, and select Calendar Events. This should trigger Android to ask if you would like to allow notifications for Family Tools. Select allow and notifications should start working.
Why Notification Problems Occur?
Family Tools and Android notifications must work together or notifications will not function. The two most common reasons notifications won’t work are:
1) when a user first downloads the app they are asked by Android if they would like to enable notifications for the app and they say no. They later turn notification on in the Family Tools app, but they have already told Android no, which creates the conflict.
2) sometimes users need to install or the app more than once, or are logging in and out of different profiles on their device and this can cause a conflict.
What ever may cause the problem the steps above should fix the issue.
